A virtual beauty celebration for Black brides
While many of us have limited or no access to our friends and family due to social distancing, we’ve also had to bear the pain of not having access to beauty professionals. But you don’t have to look far to get tips and ideas for a flawless bridal glow.
We’ve launched BEAUTY FOR ALL SHADES, a virtual beauty series that brings brides, makeup professionals, influencers, and inclusive cosmetic brands together for an intimate hour of glam!
The beauty gods aligned on July 24th for our inaugural event with our guest sponsor, HipDot Cosmetics. The vegan, cruelty-free brand was created by former fashion and beauty editor Samantha Lim, who worked alongside Black beauty icon Pat McGrath to launch Pat McGrath Labs.
Prior to our gathering, our guests were sent HipDot’s Zion eyeshadow collection, a palette of 15 eyeshadows that conjure the majestic beauty of the sweeping Utah canyons—think dramatic reds, deep oranges, and rich purples. They also received the Perfect Face palette, a trio of a buildable pinky-peach blush with a glowing gold undertone, a universally flattering bronzer, and a highlighter inspired by the glistening reflection of a unicorn’s mane. Our guests also received HipDot’s signature Soft Melt Lip Gloss, which features vitamin E, coconut oil, and shea butter to protect and moisturize.
“The packaging is gorgeous!” exclaimed beauty writer Jill Goldsberry, as our guests signed on and introduced themselves. The event was officially opened by beauty contributor Liz Crawley, who then introduced HipDot’s a makeup artist/brand ambassador, Valerie Angeles. She shared her expert tips on how to get the best looks and gave insight on how HipDot is writing its own beauty rules with new product launches and collaborations.
Overall, the event was everything you would imagine it to be: As guests tried the products, they formed an instant comradery, leading to great conversations and plenty of laughs in between.
“It was awesome!” exclaimed bride-to-be Connie Chi. “I loved the virtual event. I got a lot of tips, and it was so much better than having to watch YouTube tutorial videos on how to apply eyeshadow.”
With several virtual events planned throughout 2020, BEAUTY FOR ALL SHADES will become a go-to resource for Black brides across the diaspora. If you’re a bride interested in participating or a brand interested in collaborating, email editor@signaturebride.net.
