In addition to show-stopping decor, bold color combinations and elevated guest experiences, there’s another wedding trend on the rise that’s making waves: content creators.
These creators will often work alongside your photographer and videographer to capture some short-form content that can be turned around fairly quickly, making them highly requested for couples who are eager to replay some moments from their big day.
That said, there are a number of things to consider when hiring a content creator, or even deciding if you need one. We polled some experts to share their insight.
“I always encourage couples to choose a content creator who truly aligns with their vision for capturing the wedding day—whether it’s candid behind-the-scenes moments or fun, on-trend content for social media. At the heart of what my team and I do is a commitment to making sure no moment goes unnoticed. We’re passionate about being present for the moments that matter most—the ones you’ve carefully planned and the ones that happen in the blink of an eye. Our goal is to ensure that our brides, their maid of honor, and every member of the wedding party can stay present, hands-free and fully immersed in the joy of the day—without ever worrying about what’s being captured. That’s what we’re here for.” – Aaliyah Griffen, Blissful Details by Aaliyah
“Hiring a content creator really comes down to the kind of experience and memories a couple wants from their wedding day. Ultimately, it’s about storytelling. If you’re the kind of couple who loves candid moments, behind-the-scenes glimpses and sharing your day in real-time or shortly after, then a content creator can be a game-changer. Start by asking yourselves: Do we want to be present and unplugged on our wedding day, but still have all the moments captured for us? Do we love the idea of next-day short content like Instagram reels and TikTok? Am I going to want to share the candid moments with friends and family after? Will I be waiting to get photos and/or videos back from my photographer and videographer and feel like I’m missing out on looking back? If the answer is yes to some of these questions, then a content creator can play a special role.” – Jeanay Butler, Prettywild Content Co
“The idea of a wedding content creator might seem like a passing trend, but for many couples, it’s non-negotiable. I’ve spent years creating content that captures the real parts of a wedding day (those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments that don’t always make it into the final wedding video or photo album). ‘Wedding content creator’ can mean different things depending on who you hire. Some content creators hand over raw photos and videos in a shared iPhone gallery. Others shoot, edit and deliver fully polished content that is ready for social media. This may include a takeover of your social media, sharing carefully curated moments from your wedding day in your Instagram stories. Get clear about the deliverables, turnaround time, what’s included and what’s not. That clarity upfront means no surprises later and ensures your expectations match what they can offer.” – Lauren (Laur) Ladouceur, Plan with Laur

“My recommendation when hiring a content creator is style, personality and intention. Even when you’re deciding that you need a content creator, think of your budget and how you consume content. A content creator’s style is so important because you want to love what you’re receiving at the end of the day. A content creator’s personality and intention are super crucial during planning through delivery. Your content creator’s personality should be easy going and constantly bring you joy through the day. We also join the bridal party and create your content, so make sure you trust their creative direction. It’s important that you learn about your content creator through their personal content and “About Me” page. Ask yourself: Do they have enough experience? Do your values align? Are you loving what you see?” – Mizahni Abernathy, All For Love Media
“Find someone who gets your vibe and doesn’t just follow trends. Ask to see stuff they’ve done at real weddings, not just styled shoots. And make sure they understand how weddings actually run, they know to stay out of the aisle during the first kiss, or not interrupt the first dance. You want someone who can blend in but still catch all the magic.” – Craig Peterman, Craig Peterman Photography & Videography

“I think the biggest things couples should consider when hiring a content creator are experience, what you actually want captured and the vibe of the creator. Wedding content creation is still a newer service in the industry, but it’s so important to work with someone who has a real eye for catching those candid, in-between moments. Anyone with a smartphone can call themselves a content creator, but the good ones bring a higher level of service, professionalism and most importantly, creativity. When it comes to what you actually want captured, think about the moments that matter most to you. Do you want bts of getting ready? Sweet moments with your family and friends? Fun, trendy TikToks? Being clear on your priorities will help you choose someone whose style fits your vision. At the end of the day, if you’re someone who loves content and wants those easily accessible iPhone clips of your entire wedding, it’s so worth it. Think of your content creator as your personal wedding day hype person, capturing all the magic as it’s happening.” – Chinwe (Chinny) Okafor, Captured by Chinny

So, do you need a wedding content creator? “Ask yourself this: ‘Do I want more than just a highlight reel of the highest highs?’ If the answer is yes—if you care about remembering the in-between moments, the emotion, the energy and the realness of your day—then yes, a content creator is worth considering.
“And if you decide to hire one, here’s the key: find someone who doesn’t just understand content, but understands you. Someone who listens to what matters most to you—respects your space, works well with your vendor team and shows up to tell your story. Because your wedding isn’t just content, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The right content creator will help you remember it that way,” says Ladouceur.
